NOTICE OF ELECTION
Board of Directors, 2027 Term
TO THE MEMBERS OF STURGEON POINT GOLF CLUB:
NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that an election of Directors of Sturgeon Point Golf Club will be held at the Annual General Meeting on Saturday, September 5, 2026 at 10:00 a.m., at the Club, 76 Golf Links Road, Fenelon Falls, Ontario.
| OFF POINT | Filled by acclamation. No ballot required. |
| ON POINT | Contested. A vote of the membership will be held. |
| VOTE DATE | Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the Annual General Meeting |
BACKGROUND
The nomination period opened on July 8, 2026 and closed on July 29, 2026. Two Director positions were declared open for the 2027 term. Under the by-laws of the Club, the composition of the Board must include Directors holding a Sturgeon Point address, referred to here as “on point,” and Directors holding an address elsewhere, referred to here as “off point.” The results of the nomination period are set out below.
THE OFF POINT POSITION: FILLED BY ACCLAMATION
One nomination was received for the off point Director position. As the number of qualified nominees is equal to the number of positions available, the following member is declared elected by acclamation for the 2027 term:
- Mary Maika, off point Director, 2027 term
No vote will be required for this position, and it will be confirmed at the Annual General Meeting.
THE ON POINT POSITION: A VOTE WILL BE HELD
More than one qualified nomination was received for the on point Director position. Accordingly, an election will be held at the Annual General Meeting. In keeping with the by-laws of the Club, all sitting on point Directors and all newly nominated on point candidates will stand for election.
The following members will stand for election to the on point Director position:
- Jeff Dionne (incumbent)
- Jacqui Mutch (incumbent)
- Kevin Robson (incumbent)
- Matt Foulkes (nominee)
- Tyler Pinder (nominee)
Candidate biographies will be shared and will also be posted in the clubhouse.
WHO MAY VOTE
Each member in good standing as of September 5, 2026 is entitled to one vote. Members whose dues are outstanding may attend the Meeting but are not eligible to cast a ballot. If you have any doubt about your standing, please speak with the Pro Shop before the Meeting so it can be confirmed in advance rather than at the door.
HOW THE VOTE WILL BE CONDUCTED
- Voting will take place by secret ballot at the Annual General Meeting.
- Ballots will be distributed to eligible members present, and to members holding valid proxies, at the start of the meeting.
- Each eligible member may cast one ballot for the on point Director positions.
- Members may vote for up to four on point Director nominees. Members are NOT permitted to vote for more than a total of four on point Director nominees. If more than four Director nominees are selected the proxy will be considered spoiled.
- Ballots will be counted by two scrutineers appointed at the Meeting who are not standing for election.
- The candidates receiving the greatest number of votes will be declared elected. In the event of a tie, a second ballot will be held between the tied candidates.
- The results will be announced before the Meeting is adjourned and confirmed in a following member communication.
VOTING BY PROXY
Members who cannot attend in person may still have their say. A member in good standing may appoint another member in good standing to vote on their behalf.
- A proxy may be delivered by electronic vote or deposited in paper form at a sealed box in the Pro Shop at the Club.
- The electronic proxy form can be accessed here
- In lieu of an electronic proxy, a proxy form is available at the Club, and can be filled out and placed in the sealed box in the Pro Shop.
- The completed and signed proxy must be received by the Secretary no later than 5:00 p.m. on August 31, 2026.
- Proxies may be returned by email to [email protected] or dropped off at the Pro Shop.
- No member may hold more than two proxies.
- A proxy that arrives after the deadline cannot be accepted, so please do not leave it to the Friday.
A WORD OF THANKS
Serving on the Board is unpaid, largely invisible, and consistently more work than it looks like from the first tee. Our thanks go to every member who put their name forward this year, to those standing for election, and to the Directors who have given their time to keep this Club running the way it has for well over a century.
QUESTIONS
Questions about the election, candidate eligibility, or the proxy process may be directed to the Secretary at [email protected].
DATED at Sturgeon Point, Ontario, this 7th day of August, 2026.
By Order of the Board of Directors,
Cynthia Sneath
Secretary, Sturgeon Point Golf Club
On behalf of the Board of Directors
