Men’s League

25 Weeks of Competition, Camaraderie, and Community

The SPGC Men’s League is more than a weekly round of golf — it’s one of the anchors of our club’s social season, and a tradition that brings together players of all skill levels every Thursday from May through October. Whether you’re competing for the leaderboard or just looking forward to good golf with good company, there’s a place for you here.

The league runs every Thursday, May – October, with a choice between a morning or late afternoon shotgun.

The league is open to members of Sturgeon Point Golf Club and non-members.

Two Ways to Participate

A full season Member commitment (recommended) locks in your spot every week and unlocks the complete benefits package. Occasional Players are also welcome on a pay-as-you-play basis — subject to space in the 72-player field.

Occasional Player

$5 Per Week

Not ready for the full season? Pay $5 on the weeks you play and compete for that week’s contest prizes.

The Format

Shotgun start each week with a variety of game formats from week to week, including: Scramble, Stableford, Team Low Net. Additionally, individual competitions for closest to the pin, longest putt and closest to the line on your drive will be conducted weekly.

All games are played under preferred lies — lift, clean and place within one club length, no nearer the hole. A standard 12″ (30cm) gimme applies on the green to maintain pace of play. All scoring is based on net scores, keeping every team competitive regardless of handicap.

The weekly game format is chosen based on member popularity — the games people love most get played most often.

Our Commitment to Fair Play

With up to 72 players and thousands of dollars in prize money at stake across the season, we hold everyone to the same high standard of honesty and sportsmanship that defines the game of golf at its best:

  • All play is governed by R&A and USGA rules, plus SPGC local rules — no exceptions.
  • All players must carry and maintain an honest, current handicap. Our Pro Shop team can help you get set up.
  • Be on time. Punctuality is a matter of respect for every player in the field.
  • Cheating in any form results in immediate disqualification.
  • Tee time preference (morning or afternoon) is selected at registration. Switches are permitted when space allows; members may also swap directly with each other. If you’re unable to attend, a 24-hour courtesy notice is appreciated so a waiting-list player can take your spot.
