Junior Programs

Introducing the Next Generation to Golf — and to SPGC

At Sturgeon Point Golf Club, junior programs are at the heart of who we are. We believe that introducing young people to golf — with patience, encouragement, and the right instruction — is one of the most meaningful things a club can do for its community. Our junior camps and lessons are open to ages 7 and up, and are led by PGA of Canada Professional Doug Gleed and our team of experienced coaches.

Every junior program at SPGC goes beyond the mechanics of the game. We teach leadership, sportsmanship and etiquette alongside drives, chips and putts — skills that serve young players far beyond the fairway.

Beginner Camp

DATES: 

July 6th – August 21st 

▪ Weekly camp sessions available throughout the summer 

CAMP TIMES:  

▪ Choose one of the following daily time slots: 9am, 11am, or 1pm 

▪ Each session is 1.5 hours long 

WHAT TO EXPECT:  

▪ Putting 

▪ Chipping 

▪ Full swing fundamentals  

▪ Golf etiquette & safety  

▪ Basic rules of golf 

▪ On course play 

Each day builds on the previous one, with the goal of getting campers out onto the golf course on  Fridays.

WHO CAN JOIN? 

Camp is open to all kids between the ages of 4 and 13 years old. From first-time golfers to juniors  looking to improve their game. 

WHAT TO BRING:  

▪ Golf clubs (we have rentals if golfers don’t have) 

▪ Water bottle 

▪ Sunscreen & hat 

▪ Running/golf shoes 

▪ Comfortable athletic clothing/golf attire 

WHY GOLF CAMP?  

Golf helps children build confidence, sportsmanship, patience, and problem-solving skills. It also allows  them to have fun outside with other juniors.

Private & Semi-Private Junior Lessons

For more personalized instruction, private and semi-private lessons can be arranged directly with Doug at any time during the season:

  • $35 — 1 junior, 30 minutes
  • $50 — 2 juniors together, 30 minutes

Junior Memberships

The best way to grow as a golfer is to play — and a Junior Membership makes that possible all season long. Junior members become part of the fabric of this historic club, building skills and friendships that can last a lifetime. Junior golf privileges apply after 12 noon daily, unless accompanied by a parent or guardian, or with Pro Shop approval. Camp participants are eligible for a Junior Membership at just $115 + HST.
