Sturgeon Point Golf Club –Election for “On-Point” Candidates Biographies
Kevin Robson
I first played this course when I was eight years old, and I have not really stopped since.
I learned the game here alongside members who had already been part of this Club for decades. They taught me how to play, but more than that, they taught me what this place is. A respect for the Club, an admiration for its history, and a clear understanding of the role it holds in the community. That education has stuck with me longer than any swing tip.
This season I have been responsible for Club communications, including the weekly newsletter and our social media, and I spearheaded the initiative to update the website. It has been a rewarding way to give back, and it has given me a close look at how much quiet work goes into keeping this Club running.
Professionally, I work in Enterprise Sales at Deel and have entrepreneurial experience behind me. Those roles have taught me how to build relationships, how to bring people along on an idea, and how to get things done regardless of budget or team size.
You can find me at the Club most weekends, and any other time I can spare a moment.
My wife and I are expecting our first child in October. That has given us a fair bit of extra incentive to make sure Sturgeon Point Golf Club remains a pillar of this community for decades to come. I would be honoured to serve on the Board and help carry that forward.
Jacquie Mutch
My name is Jacqui Mutch and I am currently a Board member at the Sturgeon Point Golf Club (SPGC) and an active member in the Sturgeon Point community.
The knowledge and experience I have gained from previous Board Director positions within LPGA Amateurs Canada and in one of the local Ontario chapters, makes me an ideal candidate for the SPGC board. As Communications Director I was responsible for introducing several modernization initiatives across the Province such as the development and launch of new Chapter intranet sites to improve communications and the implementation of Office365 to help standardize and improve Board record management within all Chapters.
I have also applied my knowledge and experince increasing membership through effective marketing and participation at events like Toronto’s Golf and Travel Show, working with Golf Professionals and Course Managers at clubs helping to coordinate league events, competitive tournaments and bringing coaching/teaching opportunities to make golf accessible for all, particularly women. I have gained valuable experience within the Board management level participating in by-law updates, organizational restructuring, succession planning, recruitment and developing strategies to retain and attract volunteers.
As a certified Level 2 Rules Official with Golf Canada, I have successfully passed the R&A administered exam, completed the required by on-course work as well taken the Respect in Sport for Activity Leaders course. For my volunteer referee work, I focus on junior events as I feel it is critical to provide a good foundation and experience to encourage youth in this sport.
As an avid golfer who enjoys the competitive side of the game, I have represented our club at the Ontario Women’s Amateur & Mid-Amateur Championship, the Ontario Senior Women’s Championship as well as having the honour to compete with other club champions at the Champion of Champions event.
My love of all things golf is equally matched with my commitment to the Sturgeon Point community. As a resident of the Point, I care deeply about this historic golf course which is such an important part of the social fabric of this community. I have held a position on the Board of Directors for the Sturgeon Point Association, and I am currently a Board Member for the Sturgeon Point Union Church. My volunteering efforts extend beyond being on a committee as I have a long track record of devoting time and resources volunteering for fund-raising efforts and other community-based activities such as the community BBQs, social events, bake sales and coordinating the Point’s annual Halloween event.
I held the position of Director of Communications on the SPGC Board in 2025 and focused on re-invigorating the website, and leveraging technology through the use of electronic forms for event and junior camp sign up. For three years in a row I have played an important role coordinating the marketing and protional material for the SPGC booth at Fenelon’s Country Living Show.
In my current role as Director of Greens at SPGC, I work closely with the Superintendent and his greens crew. I also have the pleasure of working with the volunteers from the Greens Committee as we work collaboratively Jim sharing member feedback and suggestions for course improvements to the Board.
This past year I spearheaded a biodiversity campaign at the Club, working with Professor Thom Luloff to integrate biodiversity conservation, community engagement, and innovative land management practices. I was also responsible for helping deliver a well-attended Spring rules seminar in April.
Should I be elected as a board member, I look forward to working with my fellow colleagues and the entire SPGC team building on the successes we have had these past two years.
Matt Foulkes
After a rewarding career as an airline pilot, flying to destinations around the world, I’m excited to bring the skills I developed in aviation to the Sturgeon Point Golf Club Board. Aviation demands leadership, sound judgment, teamwork, clear communication, and the ability to make thoughtful decisions under pressure—qualities I believe are equally valuable in helping guide our Club. On occasion I was assigned office duties, such as working in Recruitment, where my duties included screening and interviewing potential pilots, and I always welcomed new challenges.
Although I’m a keen golfer, I freely admit my game is still a work in progress! What I do bring is a genuine enthusiasm for the club and a willingness to contribute my time and experience.
Since becoming a resident of Sturgeon Point, I’ve enjoyed getting involved in our community, volunteering with the Canada Day BBQ, Civic Weekend activities, and the Halloween Boo Crew. Before moving here, I was actively involved in community events in Halifax, helping organize fundraisers for the Children’s Wish Foundation and volunteering with Halifax’s Parade of Lights.
When I’m not on the golf course, you’ll find me hiking, sailing, boating, or gardening. I value strong communities, collaborative leadership, and giving back through volunteer service.
It would be a privilege to serve on the Golf Club Board, and I would welcome the opportunity to work with fellow members to help ensure our club continues to thrive as a welcoming, enjoyable place for golfers of all ages and abilities.
Jeff Dionne
Jeff has proudly served on the Sturgeon Point Golf Club Board of Directors for the past two years as Clubhouse Director, working to enhance the overall member experience while helping guide the Club’s operational and strategic priorities.
Professionally, Jeff brings a strong background in business, analytics, and client service. He holds an MBA from York University and has built his career in both data analytics and real estate, providing him with experience in financial analysis, strategic planning, project management, and stakeholder communication.
During his tenure on the Board, Jeff has overseen the Clubhouse portfolio, supporting improvements to clubhouse operations, member services, food and beverage initiatives, staffing, and capital enhancements. He has worked collaboratively with fellow Board members, management, and volunteers to ensure decisions are made with the long-term success of the Club and the interests of its membership in mind.
Jeff remains committed to transparent governance, thoughtful financial stewardship, and continuing to strengthen the member experience while preserving the traditions and community that make Sturgeon Point Golf Club such a special place.
Tyler Pinder
I grew up in Sturgeon Point, and today I am fortunate to call the Village home. Sturgeon Point has been an important part of my life for as long as I can remember, and that history has given me a deep appreciation for the people, traditions, and institutions that make this community such a special place.
Professionally, I am a business owner. I have built a successful electrical contracting company from the ground up, an experience that has taught me a tremendous amount about leadership, financial responsibility, managing people, and building an organization that can succeed over the long term. I am proud of what my team and I have built and, equally, of the lessons I have learned along the way.
One of my greatest strengths in business has been my ability to identify inefficiencies and find practical ways to improve them. Through my involvement across several businesses, I have developed an ability to look at operations from a broader perspective, challenge the way things have traditionally been done when appropriate, and create systems that allow people and organizations to operate more effectively.
At the same time, I strongly believe that progress does not have to come at the expense of tradition.
That belief is particularly important to me when it comes to the Sturgeon Point Golf Club. The history and traditions of the Club are what make it special. Having grown up here, I understand that the Golf Club is much more than a place to play golf. It is part of the fabric of Sturgeon Point and has been responsible for friendships, memories, and traditions shared by generations of families.
If given the opportunity to serve on the Board, I would bring energy, a strong business perspective, and a genuine willingness to work. I am not interested in changing the Club simply for the sake of change. I am interested in finding opportunities to make it stronger, more efficient, and better positioned for the future while respecting the character and traditions that have made it successful for generations.
I care deeply about seeing the Sturgeon Point Golf Club succeed. I believe we have a responsibility not only to today’s members, but also to those who will call Sturgeon Point home in the years ahead.
It would be a privilege to contribute my time, experience, and energy to a place that has been part of my life for so long, and to help ensure that the Sturgeon Point Golf Club continues to thrive for generations to come.
